Part Loads vs Full Dedicated Lorries
Most moves from one to three-bedroom Portuguese properties run as part loads. Your goods are packed and loaded onto a lorry already heading north on our weekly service. You pay for the space your belongings occupy rather than the full vehicle cost.
Because the lorry runs every week for roughly 50 weeks of the year, you join a scheduled service rather than waiting for a vehicle to become available. At survey stage we confirm volume, collection date, and delivery window, then provide a written fixed-price quote.
Full dedicated loads suit larger homes where you want the vehicle to yourself and a delivery date fixed around your UK move-in date.

Storage on Arrival in the UK
If your UK property is not ready when your goods arrive, or if you are downsizing and need short-term space for surplus items, we hold your belongings at our climate-controlled Knaresborough depot. Units run from 25 sq ft to 300 sq ft. Your coordinator confirms availability and pricing at survey stage.

Customs Paperwork: What You Need to Know
Since the UK left the EU, household goods crossing from Portugal into the UK are treated as imports. Most people moving permanently back to the UK apply for Transfer of Residence (ToR) relief to bring their possessions duty-free.
The main requirements:
- You must be moving to the UK to live there permanently
- Items must have been owned and in use for at least six months
- A detailed customs inventory is required at the UK border
Our coordinators prepare the customs inventory and advise on the documentation. For formal immigration rulings, check directly with HMRC and the relevant Portuguese authority, as requirements can change.
How to Get a Quote
We start with a video survey or in-person visit. The surveyor works through your Portuguese property room by room, assesses volume, and flags any items needing special treatment – stone tops, mirrors, antiques, large garden pieces. After the survey you receive a written fixed-price quote covering collection from your Portuguese address, transport to the UK, any agreed packing, customs handling, and delivery. No hidden charges added after the job is booked.
