We have run a weekly UK to Spain to UK service for around 50 weeks of the year for many years, with our own depot in Almoradi roughly 90 minutes east of Torremolinos along the AP-7. That means a David Dale lorry is on a Costa del Sol route most weeks of the year, so we can usually book a Torremolinos collection within a sensible window rather than waiting for a one-off truck to be put on the road.

Torremolinos sits on the western end of the Málaga conurbation, and the moves we handle there fall into a familiar pattern. Many are returning UK residents leaving apartment blocks around La Carihuela, Bajondillo and El Calvario, where access is the first thing we ask about: tight one-way streets, narrow underground garages, lift sizes that will not take a wardrobe flat, paid bays that need cordoning off the day before. Others are larger family homes in Montemar or up towards Benalmádena Pueblo, where the issue is more often a long carry from a villa gate to the road. Our trained, permanent staff handle the load in Spain and travel with the consignment back to the UK depot in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, then deliver to any UK address. There is a single point of contact from survey through to delivery, so you are not handed between offices on either side of the Channel.

Part loads and full moves

Most Torremolinos to UK jobs fall into one of two shapes.

A full house or apartment move uses a dedicated lorry from your address in Torremolinos to your UK address. This is the right option when you are clearing a property, when timing is tight, or when the volume justifies a vehicle of its own. We carry out a video or in-person survey first so the cubic metres are accurate and the price is fixed, not estimated.

A part load shares space on one of our weekly UK to Spain to UK lorries, which keeps the cost down for smaller shipments. This works well for a one-bedroom apartment, the contents of a holiday home, or a few key items you want with you when you settle in the UK. Part-load timings are slightly less precise than a dedicated move, because we coordinate with other consignments on the same lorry, but we will give you a collection window and a delivery window in writing before you commit.

Either way, you get the same crews, the same packing materials and the same insurance cover. The only thing that changes is whether the vehicle is yours alone or shared.

Packing service (full or fragile-only)

Spanish heat, long road journeys and the Channel crossing are harder on furniture than a typical domestic move, so packing matters. Our crews pack to BAR standards using export-grade materials: double-walled cartons, bubble wrap, edge protectors, mattress covers, and tailored crates for marble, glass and artwork.

You can choose a full packing service, where our team packs every box from kitchen to wardrobe, or a fragile-only service, where you pack the easy items yourself and we take care of the breakables. Fragile-only is the option most Costa del Sol clients pick when they want to keep the cost down without risking the items they actually care about.

If you have outdoor furniture, ceramics or anything that has been baked by years of Costa del Sol sun, mention it on the survey. Sun-aged materials behave differently in transit and we will pack accordingly.

Customs and paperwork guidance

Since Brexit, household goods moving from Spain to the UK need a customs declaration, even when they are personal effects. We complete the paperwork on your behalf as part of every Torremolinos to UK move, including the ToR1 (Transfer of Residence) application that lets returning UK residents bring their used household goods back without paying import VAT or duty, when the criteria are met.

You will need to give us a clear inventory, copies of identification and proof that you have been resident in Spain for the qualifying period. Our coordinator walks you through the list before collection so nothing holds the lorry up at the border. We do not advise on tax or residency status, but the practical paperwork side of the move is included.

Storage options

UK move-in dates slip. Sales fall through, completion gets pushed, a rental tenancy ends before the new one starts. We have climate-controlled storage at our Knaresborough depot in units from 25 to 300 square feet, and storage at our Spanish depot in Almoradi if you need to leave things behind for a few weeks at the Torremolinos end.

Goods are inventoried in and out, kept in our own warehouse rather than a third-party self-store site, and brought to your UK address by the same team that collected them. Short term while you wait for keys, or longer term while you decide where to settle, both work
