Door-to-Door Removals from Barcelona to the UK
This is a fully managed door-to-door service. We collect from your Barcelona address, transport your belongings in our own vehicles, and deliver to your UK address on a date confirmed in writing. There are no third-party transfers and no unannounced warehouse stops.
A single coordinator handles your move from the initial survey through to UK delivery. They manage the schedule, the customs paperwork, and any storage requirement at either end. You deal with one person throughout.

A full house move from Barcelona typically means bringing everything back: furniture, kitchen contents, wardrobe, storage, and belongings accumulated during months or years of city living. We treat this as a dedicated vehicle job where the lorry carries your goods only.
Transit time on a full dedicated load is typically 5 to 7 working days once the lorry is loaded and customs paperwork is cleared. The delivery date is confirmed in writing before we collect.
For larger Barcelona moves we recommend a full export-grade packing service. Barcelona apartments often contain glass furniture, artwork, ceramics, and kitchen collections that need proper protection for a 1,200-mile road journey through France and across the Channel.
Part Loads
Not every Barcelona move fills a lorry. If you are leaving a one-bedroom flat, sending furniture ahead of a later move, or bringing back the contents of a single room, a part load keeps your cost proportionate to the actual volume.
With a part load, your belongings travel on a scheduled lorry already making a collection run through Spain. You pay for the cubic metres your items occupy, not the full vehicle. Your coordinator gives you the volume figure during the survey so the price is fixed before you commit.
Typical timing on a part load from Barcelona is 10 to 21 days depending on the schedule. Because Barcelona sits further north than our regular Costa Blanca and Costa del Sol runs, your coordinator will confirm the exact collection window at survey stage.

Apartment Access — Lifts, Stairs and Loading
The majority of Barcelona moves start in an apartment, and access is the first thing we work out at survey stage.
- Lifts – Eixample buildings in particular have lifts that predate large furniture. A double wardrobe, a sofa, or a king-size bed base often won’t fit. We confirm lift dimensions during the survey and plan the crew size accordingly. Items that won’t go in the lift go down the stairwell.
- Staircases – Gothic Quarter and older Gràcia buildings have narrow, curved staircases. Some require furniture to be dismantled on-site. We flag this at survey and include the time in the quote.
- Loading bay permits – Barcelona’s city council system allows residents to reserve loading bay time on the street. Your coordinator will advise what’s needed. The application sits with you as the current occupant, but we confirm the requirements and factor the timing into the collection schedule so the lorry isn’t waiting on a yellow line.
- Street access – Many central streets require the lorry approach route to be confirmed in advance. We do this before collection day, not on it.
Packing Service
We use export-grade materials on every Barcelona to UK shipment: double-walled boxes, bubble wrap, packing paper, moving blankets, and specialist crating for fragile or high-value items. You choose the level of service:
- Materials only – we supply flat-pack boxes and materials; you pack non-fragile items yourself
- Partial packing – our crew handles fragile rooms (kitchen, artwork, mirrors, ceramics); you pack clothing and books
- Full packing – our crew handles everything room by room, with a numbered inventory produced as they go. The right option if you won’t be at the property on collection day or if you have significant fragile items
Items that routinely need crating on a Barcelona move: large mirrors, glass table tops, marble or stone surfaces, and artwork. We flag specialist crating at survey stage and include the cost in the written quote.

Customs Paperwork
Since Brexit, goods moving from Spain into the UK are treated as imports. Most returning residents use Transfer of Residence (ToR) relief, which allows you to import household goods without paying import duty or VAT, provided HMRC’s eligibility criteria are met.
Main requirements:
- Lived outside the UK for at least 12 months
- Items owned and in use for at least 6 months
- A Unique Reference Number (URN) from HMRC required before goods reach the UK border
- A valued inventory of all items must accompany the shipment
- Supporting documents — rental agreements, NIE certificate, proof of Barcelona or Catalan residence
Our coordinators prepare the inventory, advise on the documentation needed, and submit the ToR1 application with your move. Paperwork is completed before the lorry leaves Spain so there are no delays at the French border. If your URN is still being processed when your collection date arrives, we can hold your goods and ship them on the next scheduled run once it’s confirmed.
Storage in the UK
If your UK property isn’t ready when your Barcelona collection completes, we hold your goods in climate-controlled storage at our Knaresborough depot — units from 25 to 300 sq ft. The same coordinator who managed the Spain side handles the storage handover. Storage costs are confirmed in writing as part of the original quote, with a fixed rate and an agreed release date.
We also hold goods at our Almoradi depot in Spain if you need to vacate the Barcelona property before you’re ready to ship.
